Street Yoga's Core Mission is to ensure that every person is at home in their own body, their own mind, and their own community, and that no one is ever homeless again.
Stay informed on our latest news!
Street Yoga offers free yoga, wellness and meditation classes to homeless youth, and youth at risk of homelessness. We hope to offer to the youth a chance to create sincere, lasting wellness in their own lives, and at the same time give them tools to help themselves meet their own core needs.
We're often asked Why Yoga with Homeless Youth? Don't they need food and shelter first? We've gone through much searching after this. At it's core it's a matter of respect and dignity. Why do we brush our teeth? Because, at best, it helps us feel more healthy, whole and hopeful. Yoga provides that, and so much more.
That's why we give it away for free.
Please feel free to read more about this in an article by Katie Arrants,
Food and Shelter Are Not Enough.
Over the years, we have been blessed to have amazing support from the local community. One of the pillars of that support is The Yoga Shala of Portland.
Jody and Matt and all the teachers and staff and students there have given of their time and hearts to help Street Yoga stay and grow stronger. Thank You All!!!
We who are privileged to share yoga with the wonderful youth at Street Yoga have a lot to be thankful for. We'd like to recognize our first Sponsor The Bhaktishop for their ongoing and generous support to our work.
Without the help and love of Lisa Mae, Diana and all the folks at the Bhaktishop, there'd simply be less Street Yoga in the world. Thank You All!!!
We are deeply grateful that you are willing to help the youth we serve at Street Yoga.
Thank you and namaste
