SRV Prison Ministry - Portland, OR

The Mind Body Awareness Project – Oakland, CA

Dedicated to empowering youth with the tools and competencies to overcome trauma, transform negative behaviors, and find real freedom from the inside.

The Niroga Institute - Berkeley, CA

Offers Transformative Life Skills to vulnerable youth, cancer survivors, seniors and people battling addiction. Works at front-line prevention and intervention for violence reduction, education and mental health, and positive youth development. Niroga also trains minority young adults to become certified yoga teachers, prepared to serve their own communities with cultural competence and linguistic sensitivity.

Off the Mat and into the World

Dedicated to using the power of yoga to inspire conscious, sustainable activism and ignite grassroots social change in both local and global communities. OTM facilitates personal empowerment through leadership trainings, fostering community collaboration and service coordination, and initiating local and global service projects.

Prison Yoga Project - Bolinas, CA

Works to expand the practice of Hatha Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation to prisons and rehabilitation facilities, and to provide training for Yoga instructors interested in teaching to at-risk populations in prisons, residential rehabilitation facilities, and community programs.

Yoga Activist - Washington D.C.

A division of Yoga District nonprofit studios in Washington DC. Yoga District's local outreach programs serve the homeless, youth in detention, at-risk youth, refugees, trauma survivors and others. Also dedicated to helping develop a national network of studio-supported yoga outreach to diverse communities in need.

Yoga Alliance - Arlington, VA

The national education and support organization for yoga in the United States. As the primary accreditor of yoga training programs, the organization works in the public interest to ensure that there is a thorough understanding of the benefits of yoga, that the teachers of yoga value its history and traditions, and that the public can be confident of the quality and consistency of instruction.

Anahata Grace - Washington, DC

Anahata Grace is a nonprofit organization serving vulnerable communities through compassionate action to promote healing and social change.  Their mission is to share the physical and mental health benefits of yoga and holistic wellness services to individuals in need. Anahata Grace accomplishes this mission through two campaigns.  Our local campaign, Finding Grace, provides yoga classes and other wellness services to domestic violence survivors, veterans, homeless adults, front-line workers and at-risk youth. Our international campaign, Anahata International, provides yoga teacher training in post-conflict countries.

New England and New York

School for Compassionate Action

Brings the awareness practices of yoga and mindfulness meditation into our local communities. The school empowers and educates at-risk youth and those with chronic pain, illness, trauma and addictions. Training health care providers, social workers, therapists, psychologists and yoga teachers, all are able to utilize these tools to work with people in need.

Bent on Learning - New York, NY

Offers instruction in yoga and meditation to students in grades K through 12 in New York City public schools and youth centers as a means of reducing stress and improving concentration, self-esteem and overall health. Also trains public school teachers and staff in yogic techniques and exercises so they can help students focus their energies.

The Lineage Project - New York, NY

The Lineage Project teaches at-risk and incarcerated New York City teenagers awareness-based practices, such as yoga and meditation, to help consciously manage stress, increase self-awareness, and cultivate compassion and commitment to nonviolent engagement with their communities.

Little Flower Yoga - New York, NY

Creates specialized classes for children and youth to develop students' mental, physical and emotional wellness. Education and youth development best practices are incorporated into all of our classes, and we create customized yoga programs that address topics ranging from literacy development to confidence building to nutrition and health education.

Africa Yoga Project - Woodstock, NY

IAYT: International Association of Yoga Therapists - Prescott, AZ

Provides an online search of qualified yoga therapists. Supports research and education in Yoga and serves as a professional organization for Yoga teachers and Yoga therapists worldwide. Also serves the media and the general public as a comprehensive source of information about contemporary Yoga education, research, and statistics. Publishes three journals about the role of yoga in therapy, health, and education.

New Leaf Yoga - Toronto, Canada

Dedicated to teaching life skills to youth through the practices of yoga and meditation in order to provide skills to turn over a new leaf in life, and cultivate nonviolent, compassionate engagement with themselves and others. Provides on-going support for teachers and staff at our project sites so that long-term, committed programs can flourish.

Om4Youth Yoga and Wellness - Ontario, Canada

Offers yoga and mindfulness classes to at-risk, marginalized and street-involved youth throughout Ontario, to foster hope, wellness, and success.

Project Air - San Francisco, CA

Focusing on HIV+ women and their children, Project Air uses yoga to help genocide rape survivors manage the devastating effects of catastrophic sexual violence and HIV/AIDS. Has created a unique yoga-based program to address trauma and mental health issues left in the wake of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, and is currently developing programs in East Congo. For the past two years, Project Air has worked in collaboration with the medical NGO WE-ACTx.

Yoga for Youth - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Brings yoga to youth, regardless of physical or mental abilities. Recruits and trains yoga teachers to bring yoga to youth, teaches yoga at schools and other centers, and educates school communities about yoga.
