Community Transitional School

The young people who go to school there are by and large gracious, funny, sweet, attentive individuals, who are able to find at CTS a sense of community, neighborhood and home that is safe, consistent and loving.
CTS serves young people from K-8th grade, whose families are homeless. The school provides food and transportation to all the kids. Cheryl Bickle describes CTS like this:
"For our students, school is a refuge from the trauma and hardships of poverty and uncertainty—a place where they feel a sense of community and belonging. This is a place where they have room to learn, laugh with friends and build hope."
—Cheryl M. Bickle, Principal and Teacher
